About us

Backsound has been building music systems for Dutch businesses since 2003, and thousands of them play our music every day. What began as one sound specialist has grown into a company that makes the software, the player, the apps and the installation itself — for hospitality, retail, gyms, wellness, offices and healthcare. We are based in Arnhem, and whoever calls gets a person there.

Our mission

Music is not background noise but part of how your business feels. A café at four in the afternoon sounds different from eleven at night, and a waiting room sounds different from a gym. We make sure that takes care of itself: the music stays current, it may be played commercially, and you do not have to think about it daily.

What makes us different

Everything in house

We build the player, the apps and the music computer ourselves, and lay the installation ourselves. There is no supplier in between that we have to call when you call.

Always a person on the phone

No menu and no separate support contract. On every plan, including the entry one, you call us about anything — a fault, a question, or something you simply do not follow.

Our own engineers, across the country

Speakers, amplifiers, cabling, touchscreens: we design it, supply it and mount it ourselves. A software vendor cannot match that with a price cut.

We also say what is not included

The Buma/Stemra and Sena licence you arrange yourself through mijnlicentie.nl. That applies to every music service, but we say it before you ask rather than after.

Service that actually covers something

Service and maintenance covers all hardware and the call-out charge. If something breaks we replace it — including a music computer that has grown slow over the years.

Keeps playing without internet

400 tracks are stored on the player itself, more than enough for a day. Your business does not fall silent because the router hiccups.

What happens when something is wrong

Most calls are not about a fault but about something someone does not follow: how do I switch playlists, why am I hearing this track, can the bar play something different from the terrace. Then we explain it. No support contract is needed for that and it does not matter which plan you are on.
If it is a fault, we first look in remotely. If that does not show what it is, someone comes out. That is exactly why we supply and install the equipment ourselves: then we know what is hanging there and nobody has to go looking.
